Yesterday, Ghost shipped publisher-side gift links (meaning I can make gift links on my side only) and I think it broke our previous reader-side gift links. Huge bummer!
The gift links code I was using was generously created by Eli Pizza for indie publishers and it was working great! But then Ghost went and shipped a sliver of the feature and because the URL structure is the same (yourstory.com/?gift=STRING), I believe it's overriding Eli's code.
For now, I've taken out the code for gift links because those links won't work. We'll have wait for Ghost to ship what this feature actually should be: reader-side gift links. I also heard Magic Pages might ship it also and we're moving there soon.
I love gift links as much as you do, but I can't afford to hire someone to custom write a fix for us, so we'll have to wait until someone helps us out with something public.
