I'm currently looking for sources for the following stories. In all cases, I'm looking for self-employed people/entrepreneurs.
Most urgent requests—On deck for publication
- Entrepreneurs who have been involved in minority-owned business programs (government contracting programs). Specifically I'm looking for people who are fighting to save their programs or developing alternate plans as they shut down
- Entrepreneurs who want to share how they booked their first PAID speaking gig.
- Entrepreneurs who want to share what they did for Black Friday that wasn't just run a sale. (I'm updating and re-releasing last year's story—read that here)
All requests—These stories are shaping up slowly
- Does being a generalist work as a sales pitch? I want to talk to generalists who have either had great success positioning yourself as a "generalist" OR it's been hard for you to find your positioning as a generalist.
- Funny or surprising networking stories that ended up turning into a real business relationship or at least one valuable opportunity.
- Service providers who get substantial amounts of clients via referrals AND who have a strong POV on whether or not to pay referral commissions for a story about referral commissions.
- People who live in rural, remote or disconnected cities who have previously lived in major city centers who can speak to the tradeoffs of being in a networking hub vs having to build your network another way.
- People who have moved countries or who live in a place where they aren't a native speaker of the language who can speak to how you've networked/built your network.
Note that I may not publish all of these stories if there's not enough information to publish AND I may not include you in the story even if we talk, but please get in touch if one of these applies to you.
